Where are you planning to holiday in 2017?
Beach break, city weekender, cruise, hiking tour, or road trip? Let me know in your comments below – I love hearing about holiday plans!
Our 2017 travel plans
2017 is very France-centric for us, as we have just bought a house in France and will be spending much of our vacation time on DIY! But we have a few ideas about how we can have some fun road trip adventures in France while we are there!
New Year – we are welcoming in 2017 in our little French village – at a 7-course celebration dinner in the Town Hall!
A weekend in the Scottish Borders – we are heading down to the dog-friendly Buccleuch Arms Hotel in the Scottish Borders for the weekend in February.
Easter jaunts – we will be heading to our France house at Easter, but I would also quite like to visit a few other places on the way! My 1st cousin 3 x removed, Anselm Jerome Beehan, died at the Somme on 27 March 1918, at the age of only 22. He is memorialised at Grévillers, Nord-Pas-de-Calais – so I would dearly love to visit there and remember this young man from New Zealand who died so far from home.
June summer holiday – we will be heading back to France, and visiting lots of other places during our 2 weeks! Summer means sun, and sun means pique-niques! We will visit Mont Saint Michel, and La Rochelle, the beautiful seaside town on the Atlantic coast; Bordeaux for a visit to one of our favourite restaurants, L’Entrecôte; and to Saintes – for the fabulous cathedral. We will also head over to Switzerland for the annual Fête de l’Absinthe in the Val-de-Travers!
My husband’s birthday – My bucket list is never-ending, however my husband’s bucket list just had 1 city on it – New York. It’s a big (not to be disclosed) birthday for him in 2017, so I splashed out and got us a trip to NYC for 5 days – a swanky hotel in Hell’s Kitchen, and plans to hit the faux-prohibition style gin joints!
August – After our many gigs during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we will need a break, so will pop back to the France house for a week at the end of August – it was 38 degrees (celsius) at the same time in 2016, so here’s hoping for some scorching weather!
October – Ireland Roadtrip – We are heading for 10 days in Ireland – including trips to the Giant’s Causeway, my ancestral family castle, to Galway, Dingle Peninsula, and hopefully to Killarney for the TBEX conference too!
Wedding Anniversary – It’s our wedding anniversary in December, so we will probably go somewhere… but I haven’t found the right deal yet!
Christmas – We really want to experience Christmas in France, so this will be our first Noël in our French village!
Happy travelling! And please do tell me your travel plans for 2017 – I love the inspiration!
