I have snuck a side trip to Cuba on this version, however we might get to do this trip sooner, in which case we would spend more time on the Carolina coast and in Atlanta.

We estimate this 2.5 month trip will cost around the £10,000 mark (depending on the exchange rate at the time, and any deals I can get when we book).  We could do it for a lot less by back-packing and using the Greyhound bus services, but this is based on hiring cars and staying in hotels, and some stages of hiring a motorhome.

I long ago left behind my hostel days, and value a good hotel bed!  I think when it comes to your dream USA road trip, you have to be true to your preferred travel style and save for those extra comforts if that’ll make it a more memorable experience for you and your travel companions.

I spend a lot of my time planning USA road trips for other people, so it’s exciting to be planning my own!
