When you work in travel, you end up with thousands of photographs from destinations around the world. For years, I’ve wanted to find new ways to share those images beyond blog posts and travel guides.
The challenge? I’m a photographer, not an illustrator. My creative skills have always been behind the camera rather than with a pencil.
While I’m generally not a fan of AI-generated content and don’t use AI for my travel writing, I decided to experiment with AI tools to transform my own travel photographs into black line drawings suitable for colouring. Every image in these books started as a photograph I took during my travels, with the AI simply helping bridge the gap between photography and illustration.
The result is a collection of travel-inspired colouring books featuring real places I’ve visited and photographed. Each book includes a variety of images, from simpler designs suitable for younger people to more intricate illustrations for those who enjoy greater detail.
I hope they offer a relaxing and creative way to explore some of the places that have inspired me over the years.
